About the opportunity
We are on a journey of growth and are looking for a knowledgeable Product Manager in our Product Development team. In this pivotal role you will be responsible for the end to end management of products across their lifecycle. You will help define the product strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, drive commercial performance, and deliver customer-centric products or enhancements that support our business growth and elevate customer experience & outcomes.
You will also work closely with our customers and internal teams across distribution, underwriting, claims, technology, risk, and compliance to help ensure our products stay competitive, compliant, and aligned with our strategic goals.
Reporting to Head of Product Development, you will:
Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance for all products, ensuring consistency with business strategy, risk appetite, and financial objectives.
Develop and maintain product development methodologies and governance frameworks to ensure quality, transparency, and alignment with regulatory requirements.
Lead cross-functional collaboration across Technology, Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, Distribution, and Customer teams.
Use customer insights, feedback, data, and research to inform product decisions.
Proactively stay informed about market trends, competitor activity, industry developments, best practices and regulatory changes within NZ insurance and financial services sector
Support go-to-market planning, including training, communications, and sales enablement.
Contribute to continuous improvement of product management frameworks and governance.
About you
You are an accomplished product manager within financial services or insurance industry and have a solid understanding of insurance products in today’s market. You have a proven track record of managing full product lifecycle and a genuine passion to drive product development and innovation to enhance customer experience and business performance.
With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you are able to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the business. You are confident influencing decisions, leading discussions, and guiding cross-functional teams toward successful product delivery.
Additional attributes that may help you succeed in this role:
5+ years’ experience in product management, product development, or a related role within financial services or insurance.
Sound understanding of NZ regulatory and conduct requirements.
Commercial acumen with experience managing product performance and trade-offs.
Ability to analyse complex data and translate insights into clear recommendations.
Tertiary qualification in business, finance or a related discipline desirable.
A structured, delivery-focused approach and ability to work in ambiguity comfortably
